If governors & mayors (anywhere) had the ability to enforce the law within their own states, would they do it? If yes, that must mean they don't have the ability to enforce the law. If they can't enforce the law, that suggests they cannot trust the national guard or law enforcement to help them in this situation. Or, is it that they're afraid to use the authority they have? If yes, that must mean they expect federal retaliation.
While ordinary citizens are out there in the freezing cold trying to document what's happening, why don't we have state police or national guard following ICE agents to either A) film them, as citizens are doing; B) arrest them for violations of the 1st & 4th Amendments?
Where's the media? Why are they doing secondhand reporting about events taking place they themselves are not present to film?
Even the BCA superintendent explicitly explained it earlier today. They're afraid to find themselves in a situation where there's a standoff between local/state vs. federal law enforcement. But their solution so far is to just completely forego upholding the law in regards to federal law enforcement breaking the law, instead pawning their responsibility onto civilians to record what federal law enforcement does in the hope that should there ever come a time when Dems hold federal power again, they can then use that evidence that civilians collected today to prosecute crimes. Meanwhile civilians are expected to just suffer any crimes by federal law enforcement like good little dogs.
Their hope is to only sue the federal government and hopefully get the courts to tell the feds to leave, which typically takes months, and if they succeed, only applies to that one location, since Trump's goons at SCOTUS killed nationwide injunctions. So then they can just leave that city and go terrorize a different one.
The nonfeasance framing is sharp. When elected officials describe ongoing crimes publicly but refuse to deploy the resources they control, that creates a legal opening most people dunno exists. The recall mechanism for St. Paul (just 20% no specific grounds) versus Rochester (court-first) shows how wildly local charter structures can vary even within same state.
I agree, people in power throughout the country, state and federal, such as the voluntarily castrated republicans in Congress, are to blame for letting this fascist takeover proceed. There’s no reason I know of why Walz can’t deploy the national guard under these circumstances.
The recall we really need is for Congress. I can't believe the founders never considered that someone might get in whom we would want to get rid of immediately instead of waiting for an election. Imagine if we had that power now!
WE the People have to demand ICE out of our cities Congress won't or cannot do it because Nazi Republicans will not act The courts are the only resort WE have left Recall argument is nonsense
Christian Nationalists Now Occupy The White House
Make no mistake Christian Nationalism(CN) IS the far right movement ideology that has been percolating in Nazi Republican circles for the last decade and the American electorate decided to put this movement in charge of the country Modeled after Orban’s dictatorship in Hungary and the favored consultant to help Cheeto do the same in the US, the Nazi Republicans know they have all the levels of power they need to consolidate their hold onto government control of WE the People
As Hilter said in 1928, “We tolerate no one in our ranks who attacks the ideas of Christianity. Our movement is Christian.” This propaganda eventually led Germany into WWII and with a deranged, demented, belligerent, and bellicose Cheeto, the US is headed in the same direction
It’s obvious that CN is a political ploy and has nothing to do with a faith based religion And now as WE the People witness what transpires in Minnesota there is nothing but regret of the monster we have created by a duped electorate by a moron wanting to stay out of jail
If they're recalled, there would be a new election for their position. Elect someone who will order law enforcement/national guard to enforce the law, i.e. arrest ICE agents committing crimes.
Frey and Walz are weak and choosing not to enforce the law from fear of conflict.

What is going on?

This, of course, is unsustainable.

He already mobilized them but not deployed. And now we have another dead in the hands of ICE.

How is recall nonsense? Recall = replace the officials who are not enforcing the law. They can be replaced in as little as 60 days…
It doesn't address the underlying problem since replacing officials cannot address ICE If they could it would have been done legally already
