NBC Heard "Whoa." We Heard "Fucking Bitch."
Guess which one made it into their story.
While others stenograph, grift, or chase the next distraction—this is the news that matters and how it’s connected.
MAGA attacks the media every time they're critical of Trump—even when it's fair. We quietly disapprove when outlets carry water for this administration. As I explain here, until the cost of soft-pedaling fascism is greater than the cost of telling the truth, nothing is going to change. This is me doing my part. Do yours—ask NBC, Jon Schuppe, or Patrick Smith why they chose to bury these facts.
NBC News published their analysis of the Minneapolis fire and police reports today.1 They had the same documents we did. Here’s what they chose to report:
“In Ross’ cellphone footage, he can then be heard shouting what sounds like ‘whoa’ and firing.”
What sounds like “whoa.” That’s speculative. That’s hedged. That’s uncertain.
Here’s what they didn’t report: In the same video, someone—Ross, according to the New York Times—says “Fucking bitch” after firing three shots into Renee Good.2 That’s not speculative. That’s not hedged. That’s on tape.
NBC heard “whoa.” We heard “Fucking bitch.” Guess which one tells you who Jonathan Ross is.
NBC did report that Good was still alive when firefighters arrived. Here’s what they didn’t report: ICE agents never performed CPR on Renee Good. Video shows her abandoned in her car, bleeding out for nearly three minutes while agents walk away. Then a physician on scene tried to help—and agents blocked her.
“I’m a physician!”
“I don’t care.”
That exchange is in the video evidence. They chose not to include it.
There's more below, but first: If media accountability work like this—calling out outlets when they carry water for a fascist administration—feels worth having in the world, please consider supporting The American Manifesto. Paid subscriptions make it possible to keep fighting when others stay silent.
NBC did mention that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called Good a “domestic terrorist”—”without citing evidence.” One sentence. A hedge. A fig leaf.
Here’s what they didn’t report: Noem fabricated an entire chain of events that video directly contradicts. She claimed ICE officers “got stuck in the snow” and were “attempting to push out their vehicle” when Good “attacked them and those surrounding them” and “attempted to run them over and ram them with her vehicle.” She said the officer “acted quickly and defensively.”
Video shows Good turning her wheel away from Ross. The New York Times confirmed there was “a visible gap between the vehicle and his legs” and “a clear and growing gap between his body and the SUV” when he fired. Noem lied about every detail. NBC gave her lies a one-sentence disclaimer and moved on.
This is what NBC chose to do:
Report the speculative “whoa” while burying the confirmed “Fucking bitch.”
Ignore that ICE never performed CPR and blocked a physician from helping.
Note the “domestic terrorist” accusation “without evidence”—but don’t tell readers that every claim Noem made was a lie.
NBC has access to all the same videos publicly available. Now you know how they’re choosing to frame this story to their readers.
Your Move
How does it feel watching major outlets frame this story the way NBC did?
Have you seen other outlets bury key details in their Renee Good coverage?
Are you going to tag NBC, Jon Schuppe, or Patrick Smith and ask them why?
Jon Schuppe and Patrick Smith, “Minneapolis Police, Fire department reports reveal chaotic moments after ICE officer fatally shot Renee Good“, NBC News, January 16, 2026.
NBC’s report on Minneapolis police and fire department documents obtained through public records request. Reports Ross’s cellphone footage captured “what sounds like ‘whoa’” before firing and notes Noem called Good a “domestic terrorist” without citing evidence. Does not mention that ICE never performed CPR, that a physician was blocked from helping, or the full extent of Noem’s fabricated narrative
The New York Times, “Video Analysis of ICE Shooting Sheds Light on Contested Moments“, The New York Times, January 2026.
Frame-by-frame video analysis confirming Ross was clear of Good’s vehicle when he fired. Audio analysis captures Ross saying “fucking bitch” after killing her.

Great article. NBC, covering up for fascist regime in real time.
You are a disgrace to the profession.
