You would know, Lukium. This is why privatization of any government service will never work. People say we can get rich in the stock market if we handle our own Social Security. No. People who get the richest in the stock market are already rich. That's how the rules are set up. Sure, you can make a killing in a hedge fund--but you need $100k to get into one.

AI is sophisticated computing, but it’s still subject to the fundamental rule taught decades ago to all intro to computing students: garbage in, garbage out.

Definitely. But with AI, I think this goes to an entirely different level that most people don't seem to grasp. AI takes whatever we have created, as a civilization, and hypercharges it. And the problem is that what we have built so far, is a machine that strip mines communities and people in order to enrich the very few.

This is why I would much rather those of us who are against oligarchy get involved in taking charge of the direction that AI goes rather than just being against it: there's already too much money into it for it to be stopped, any time/effort spent trying to stop it is time that could been spent fighting for the choice of who it benefits.
