Trump’s Fascist Takeover Plan: Exposed
The Crisis Overload Strategy: Keeping Us Scattered While They Consolidate Power
Fascism doesn’t take power all at once—it overwhelms, it distracts, and it divides. Right now, Trump’s team is engineering a crisis overload, flooding the left with so many emergencies that we’re too scattered to fight back effectively. Immigration crackdowns, attacks on labor rights, government purges—each crisis is designed to keep us locked in separate battles while they consolidate power. This isn’t just chaos; it’s the plan. And if we don’t recognize it now, we may be too late to stop what’s coming.
In every authoritarian playbook, the goal is the same: seize and consolidate power before resistance can organize. But the approach varies depending on the political landscape. Donald Trump and his allies have identified the biggest threat to their authoritarian ambitions: a unified opposition that can expose their lies and reach their own supporters. And so, instead of simply pitting different left-wing factions against each other—the traditional "divide and conquer" method—they're deploying a more insidious strategy: fragmentation through crisis overload.
The objective? Create multiple simultaneous crises that pull every progressive faction into defensive mode, keeping them too busy fighting their own fires to mount a cohesive counteroffensive.
This is the central mechanism of Trump’s fascist takeover strategy, and if we don’t recognize it—and fast—it will succeed.
How the Strategy Works
The fascists understand that their entire movement is built on lies and manipulation. They sold their base a fantasy of fighting for America, but in reality, they are being used as pawns to justify fascist rule. The greatest risk to this operation? The left breaking through their echo chambers and waking them up before consolidation is complete.
If working-class Trump supporters realize they’ve been conned—that the billionaires they idolize are the ones keeping them in poverty, that the “election fraud” was a hoax to protect a grifter, that their livelihoods are being actively gutted by the policies of their own leaders—Trump’s entire machine collapses. His base is held together by deception, and the right-wing media ecosystem functions as a psychological fortress, keeping them from realizing that they, too, are victims—perhaps the most thoroughly deceived of all—of this power grab.
So how does Trump prevent the left from exposing this con? By ensuring the left never has the time or focus to pierce the right’s echo chamber. And how does he do that? By forcing the left into constant crisis management.
Step 1: Create as Many Simultaneous Crises as Possible
Before seizing power, the right’s primary strategy for dividing the left was internal fragmentation—stoking culture war battles that pitted different Democratic factions against each other. They hammered on trans issues to divide us, used debates over "wokeness" to splinter class-based and identity-based movements, and weaponized terms like “defund the police” to create ideological purity tests that fractured coalitions. By keeping left-leaning groups locked in endless infighting, they weakened collective opposition to their broader fascist project.
But once in power, the strategy shifts: internal division is no longer enough. Now, they must “flood the zone” with so many simultaneous crises that each faction of the left is forced into defensive mode—too overwhelmed to unify against the real enemy.
Having already sown division before the election, their goal is now to exploit it further—to keep the left scattered and consumed with separate battles. They aim to overwhelm progressive organizations, activists, and voters with multiple emergencies, each demanding immediate attention from different factions of the left. And they know the seeds of division they planted before will now take root, ensuring that progressive groups remain in isolated silos, unable to mount a unified counteroffensive.
Immigration Crackdowns & ICE Raids: By rescinding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelans and Haitians and ramping up ICE enforcement, they ensure immigrant rights activists are completely consumed with fighting deportations.
Federal Workforce Purge: Trump’s planned mass firings of civil servants and replacement with loyalists don’t just consolidate power—they force government watchdog groups, unions, and federal agencies into emergency response mode.
Dismantling Government Agencies: From gutting the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to obliterating OSHA and the NLRB, these moves ensure workers’ rights organizations, labor unions, and progressive economic reformers are forced to play defense.
Religious Authoritarianism & Social Issues: Attacks on abortion rights, LGBTQ+ protections, and trans healthcare force civil rights groups, feminist organizations, and queer advocacy groups to spend their energy fighting back.
Fascist Attacks on Public Schools: Book bans, curriculum overhauls, and state-level education crackdowns ensure teachers' unions, academic organizations, and progressive education reformers are forced into constant reaction mode.
Each of these crises hits a different silo of the progressive movement, ensuring that each group is too consumed with their own emergency to unify against the broader authoritarian threat.

Step 2: Keep the Left in “Defensive Mode”
This strategy is designed to force the left into a permanent defensive posture. Every progressive faction is so busy putting out its own fires that it never has time to go on offense.
Instead of exposing Trump’s con to his base, we’re constantly writing articles about why the latest policy is an outrage.
Instead of organizing a direct, unified counterattack, we’re stretched thin, scrambling to protect different at-risk communities.
Instead of dominating the narrative, we’re left reacting to right-wing propaganda, always one step behind.
The key to fighting fascism isn’t just resisting each individual attack—it’s recognizing the overarching strategy and refusing to be fragmented into isolated, reactive battles.
The One Weakness in Trump’s Plan
The good news? This strategy has a critical weakness. It relies entirely on keeping the left distracted and divided long enough for the right to consolidate power. If we recognize the game being played—and refuse to scatter—we can turn the tide before it’s too late.
What we must do:
Shift from Defense to Offense: Instead of reacting to each crisis as it arises, we need to identify the core unifying threat—Trump’s fascist takeover—and organize against that.
Unify Across Factions: Immigration activists, labor unions, civil rights groups, and progressive movements must coordinate rather than isolate. Fighting in silos is what they want.
Expose the Con to Trump’s Base: The ultimate goal isn’t just stopping fascism—it’s collapsing the right-wing manipulation machine by piercing their echo chambers. We must prioritize reaching working-class conservatives before consolidation is complete.
Dominate the Narrative: We must refuse to let right-wing media dictate the framing. Every crisis must be tied back to the central fascist agenda.
Make Trump’s Supporters Realize They’re the Next Target: They think they’re on Trump’s side, but they’re disposable pawns. The moment he no longer needs them, working-class white conservatives will be the next victims of his corporate fascism. The faster we expose this reality, the faster his grip weakens.
Defense Alone Won’t Save Us—We Must Also Counterattack
Make no mistake: we cannot abandon the vulnerable. The attacks on immigrants, workers, LGBTQ+ people, reproductive rights, and public institutions must be fought. But if we keep pouring 100% of our resources into individual silos, we will never have the capacity to go on the offensive—and that’s exactly what they’re counting on.
Right now, every progressive movement is fighting alone, locked in separate battles. But fascism is not attacking in silos—it is waging a total war for control. If we only defend, we are choosing to let them dictate the fight.
This is not a call to abandon the fight in any of these areas. It’s a call to recognize that we must pull resources from every silo—not to weaken our defenses, but to power a unified counteroffensive.
We must coordinate across movements, pooling resources into an offensive strategy that targets the root cause—Trump’s consolidation of power and the fascist movement backing him. This doesn’t mean stopping the fight to protect those under immediate attack. It means ensuring that while we fight to hold the line, we are also dismantling the machine that keeps generating these attacks.
Because if we don’t? We will always be reacting, always playing defense, always one step behind.
We Must Not Play Their Game
Fascism doesn’t take power by accident—it exploits division, deception, and exhaustion. Trump’s strategy is not just about seizing control—it’s about keeping the left so preoccupied with different emergencies that we never unite in time to stop him.
And make no mistake: allowing ourselves to be scattered is a mistake.
Hoping that right-wing workers will simply wake up and realize they’ve been conned is a mistake.
Waiting for things to get so bad that the public turns against fascism is a mistake.
The “Fuck Around and Find Out” mentality is a mistake.
And here’s the brutal reality: this is their plan. They aren’t just hoping for us to hesitate—they are relying on it.
Their propaganda is powerful. Their messaging is relentless. Left unchallenged, any suffering their base endures won’t wake them up—it will radicalize them further.
Yes, could this backfire on them eventually? Maybe. But are we really willing to bet our entire future on ‘maybe’?
That’s the question you must ask yourself.
The answer is clear: we don’t have the luxury of waiting. If we play this smart—if we expose their strategy, refuse to be divided, and actively work to break their propaganda machine—we can stop Trump before his consolidation of power is complete.
We have the numbers. We have the truth. But we must act now—before it’s too late.
You've taken the first step by seeing their plan—now help others see it too. Share this message, spread the truth, and be part of the fight. The American Manifesto isn’t just a publication—it’s a movement. And movements win when people like you take action.
Join the Fight, Amplify the Truth
Because silence is surrender. We never surrender. We are #TheRelentless.
I agree that the FAFO mentality is a mistake. People were lied to and manipulated by mechanisms larger than Trump and we need to find ways of bringing as many as we can together to aid in this fight. We coalesce around stopping this fascist takeover. Once stopped we can address the silos.
