Trump Ditches MAGA, Protects Predators, and Sparks a GOP Uprising Over Epstein Files
This is an update to our Trumpstein Files series. For comprehensive coverage of all relevant connections between Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, check out our original article:
Trump Backstabs MAGA
For years, Trump’s most diehard supporters demanded the truth about Epstein. They hyped the “Epstein files,” cheered the promise to “release it all,” and even watched their favorite influencers line up for staged “document drops” at the White House. But as soon as those same supporters started questioning Trump’s about-face—demanding real answers instead of empty stunts—he snapped.
On July 16th, Trump unleashed a scorched-earth rant on Truth Social, disowning anyone in his base still demanding Epstein transparency:

“My PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullshit’ hook, line, and sinker… Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats’ work… I don’t want their support anymore!
During a press conference at the Oval Office, he doubled down, calling his supporters “stupid”, and he didn’t stop there, when asked for further comment, he claimed they were “duped” by Democrats :
“I know it’s a hoax… it’s been run by Democrats. Some stupid Republicans and foolish Republicans fell into the net… they’re stupid people… certain Republicans got duped by the Democrats.” — Donald Trump

When giving comments to the press after landing on Marine One, Trump called his supporters who are still interested in the Epstein Files “Pretty Bad People.” Howard Lutnick, who still owns a townhouse that used to be owned by Jeffrey Epstein next door to Jeffrey Epstein’s infamous Manhattan townhouse1, can be seen laughing as Trump threw his base under the bus for wanting more information about Epstein’s clients:
“I don’t understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest for anybody… I think really, only pretty bad people, including fake news want to keep something like that going” — Donald Trump

All the while, Trump went out of his way to defend Attorney General Pam Bondi—the same official who once claimed to have Epstein’s client list “sitting on my desk” but now insists there’s “no new credible information” and that “the case is closed.” This is the same Pam Bondi who killed the Trump University case in Florida after soliciting a political contribution from Trump, which he happily obliged with a $25,000 check2:
“The attorney general has handled that very well. She has done a very good job.“

The message from Trump to his base?
Stop asking questions, or get out of the movement.
Trump’s “Hoax” Hysteria Will Protect Monsters, Including Ghislaine Maxwell
By declaring the Epstein case a “Democrat hoax” and firing the very prosecutor who put Ghislaine Maxwell behind bars, Trump isn’t just rewriting history—he’s giving cover to every predator who exploited Epstein’s child sex ring. He’s making it easier for the guilty to walk free, starting with Maxwell herself.
Trump Fires the Prosecutor Who Won the Maxwell Case
In the very week that Trump declared “case closed,” the Justice Department fired Maurene Comey—the top federal prosecutor who not only put Ghislaine Maxwell behind bars, but led the original Epstein prosecution. No official reason, no warning, just out.
“The removal of someone with the last name Comey, who worked on those prosecutions, will only fire up the talks that there is something more nefarious going on here.”

By firing the top prosecutor in Ghislaine Maxwell’s case, Trump is casting doubt on the prosecution, creating a venue for an appeal on her case.
Trump’s “Hoax” Rhetoric Is Now Maxwell’s Legal Strategy
In fact, as Maxwell’s appeal to the Supreme Court on her case — on the claim that Epstein’s Non-Prosecution Agreement applies to her as well — appears to be reaching the end of the line, Trump’s attack on the Epstein case as a “Democrat hoax” is opening a potential new venue for her to appeal. In their latest public statement, they argue there’s new evidence of “government misconduct” that could have changed the outcome of her trial:
“This allows her to challenge her imprisonment on the basis of new evidence such as government misconduct that would have likely changed the trial’s outcome.”

The Real Monsters Get a Free Pass
Let’s be clear:
This isn’t just about Maxwell. Every client in Epstein’s network—every powerful predator who raped children, trafficked girls, and hid behind Epstein’s money—is having a field day right now.
If the president calls the whole thing a hoax, how can future prosecutions or investigations ever be undertaken? How long before every monster is guaranteed they can never be prosecuted?
Trump isn’t just closing the case. He’s making sure every Epstein predator can never be brought to justice.
The GOP Revolt: Congress Isn’t Letting Epstein’s Secrets Die
Even as Trump tries to slam the door on the Epstein case, Congress is refusing to let it stay buried—and it’s not just Democrats. A revolt is brewing inside the GOP, with Republican lawmakers risking Trump’s wrath to demand answers.
MAGA Heavyweights Break Ranks
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene isn’t mincing words. She calls Epstein “literally the most well-known convicted pedophile in modern day history” and says the blowback in MAGA World is massive.
“… People in MAGA, they really want to know more information about the people that were involved with Jeffrey Epstein and is there a blackmail list and are there foreign countries, governments involved? There’s nothing wrong with people continuing to ask.”

Senator Josh Hawley isn’t just open to more investigation—he’s explicitly inviting Ghislaine Maxwell to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee:
“Here’s what I think is maybe a little difficult to believe: the idea that the DOJ and FBI, who prosecuted cases related to this, that they don’t have any idea who Jeffrey Epstein’s clients were and that he had no record of it… Ghislaine Maxwell, I think that she said she would be willing to testify. Why not put her under oath? … I’d be fine with that.”

The House Discharge Petition: Bipartisan Demand for Transparency
And this isn’t just talk. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) have teamed up to launch a discharge petition to force a floor vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
Discharge Petition - Full Text

If successful, this procedural move would bypass House GOP leadership and require the Justice Department to release all unclassified Epstein records—including flight logs, communications, and internal DOJ memos—within 30 days
This is the first time since the case broke wide open that real bipartisan momentum is building to blow the cover off the Epstein network—regardless of what Trump wants.
The Tipping Point
The stakes couldn’t be higher. With the White House trying to slam the file shut, it’s Congress—yes, even some in Trump’s own party—who are now the last line of defense against total impunity for Epstein’s network of predators.
If Trump really has nothing to hide, why is he fighting so hard to keep the truth locked away?
What’s Next?
The fissure is out in the open. Trump is hemorrhaging his most loyal base, the GOP is splintering in real time, and Maxwell’s team is taking aim at the White House’s attack on the Epstein Case as a way out of prison for her.
Everyone wants to know: What’s Trump still hiding, and who is he protecting?
Stay tuned. The Trumpstein Files aren’t going anywhere.
No ads. No billionaires. Just one person, fighting like hell to call out fascism and build a better future.

Hugh Cameron, Howard Lutnick's Ties to Jeffrey Epstein Come Under Scrutiny, Newsweek (July 16,2025)
Howard Lutnick, Trump’s Commerce Secretary, has longstanding real estate ties to Jeffrey Epstein, having purchased and lived in Epstein’s former Manhattan townhouse at 11 E. 71st St. While Lutnick and the Commerce Department deny any personal relationship, property records confirm Epstein owned and transferred the property through entities linked to him before selling to Lutnick in 1998.
Michelle l. Price and Colleen Long, What to know about Pam Bondi, Trump’s new pick for attorney general, AP News (November 25, 2024)
In 2013, while her office was considering whether to join a fraud lawsuit against Trump University, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi personally solicited a $25,000 political donation from Donald Trump. Trump made the contribution via his charitable foundation (in violation of tax law), after which Bondi’s office declined to take action against Trump University. Trump later paid a $2,500 IRS fine for the illegal donation, and his foundation was dissolved following further investigations. Both Trump and Bondi denied wrongdoing, but the timing of the donation and the dropped case has remained a source of controversy.
So now Donald is threatening to sue the WSJ. Does he seriously want to take on the REAL king of the monsters, Rupert Murdoch?
