Daily News — January 19, 2026
Trump builds a bootleg UN with himself as chairman for life. We learn the FBI opened a civil rights investigation into Renee Good's killer—and DOJ killed it.
While others stenograph, grift, or chase the next distraction—this is the news that matters and how it’s connected.
No Nobel, No Peace—and Now a Bootleg UN
Trump sent a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre this weekend that read like a ransom note. “Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS,” Trump wrote, “I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace.”1
Read that again. The President of the United States is saying—in writing, to a foreign leader—that his commitment to peace was contingent on receiving a trophy. Norwegian experts called it “bold, shameless and stupid.”¹ But it wasn’t just a tantrum. It was a threat. Trump followed the Nobel grievance with an explicit demand for “Complete and Total Control of Greenland”—linking 25% tariffs on eight NATO allies to their refusal to hand over Danish territory.¹
Threatening NATO wasn't enough. That same day, Trump unveiled his rival to the United Nations—with himself as permanent chairman.
The “Board of Peace” charter, obtained by Haaretz and the Financial Times, gives Trump the power to approve members, choose his own successor, and veto decisions taken by majority vote.2 $1 billion buys permanent membership. The charter doesn’t mention Gaza—the supposed reason for the board’s existence—because Gaza was never the point. The Milei invitation letter says it explicitly: “The Board of Peace and its executive will establish a New International Organisation.”3
Putin was invited. France rejected. No Palestinians on the board deciding Gaza's future—but plenty of billionaires.³ A Western diplomat called it "a 'Trump United Nations' that ignores the fundamentals of the U.N. charter."² A former NATO deputy secretary general said Trump is "bent on destroying what has been the post Second World War, law governed order."³
This is what happens when a narcissist has nuclear weapons. Peace is conditional on flattery. Alliances are conditional on tribute. International order is something to replace with your own name on the letterhead.
DOJ Killed the Probe. Now They’re Investigating the Widow.
The FBI opened a civil rights investigation into ICE officer Jonathan Ross after he killed Renee Good in Minneapolis. An agent reviewed the evidence—four gunshot wounds, one to the head—and determined there were “sufficient grounds” for a probe.4
Trump’s DOJ killed it.
Deputy AG Todd Blanche went on Fox News and claimed no investigation was warranted—contradicting the FBI’s own findings.⁴ Then DOJ leaders ordered prosecutors to investigate Good’s partner instead. At least five Minnesota prosecutors resigned, including the office’s second-in-command. Multiple Civil Rights Division prosecutors in Washington left because they were excluded entirely.⁴
The investigation has now pivoted to “the conduct of Good and those around her, including her widow.”5 Meanwhile, the DOJ has opened a federal investigation into Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey—with subpoenas expected within days.⁴ And the Pentagon has 1,500 active-duty troops on standby for Minnesota.⁵
The pattern: Kill a citizen. Cover it up. Investigate the family. Subpoena the governor. Deploy the troops.
Meanwhile
Iran threatens “full-scale war” after Trump called for regime change—”It’s time to look for new leadership in Iran”—and warned he’d strike if the killing continued.6 Iranian President Pezeshkian’s response: any move against Supreme Leader Khamenei “is tantamount to full-scale war against the Iranian nation.” The regime has also locked the country into permanent digital darkness—NetBlocks reports a “filternet plus” censorship system whitelisting only business-critical services while keeping 90 million citizens offline.7 The blackout, now in its 22nd day, won’t lift until at least March 20.
The regime’s logic, per NetBlocks CEO Alp Toker: it “sees its own citizens’ ability to communicate with the rest of the world as an existential threat.” Death toll estimates range from 2,500 to 16,500—impossible to verify when you’ve cut off the witnesses.
Trump’s DOJ is defying the Epstein Files Transparency Act—one month past the congressional deadline, with only 12,285 documents released out of over 2 million identified.8 Republicans who championed the release have gone quiet. Lauren Boebert: “I don’t give a rip about Epstein.” She added: “It’s no longer in my hands.”⁸ Marjorie Taylor Greene—whom Trump called a “traitor” for supporting the release—resigned from Congress earlier this month.⁸ Rep. Thomas Massie, now the lone Republican publicly demanding compliance: “They’re in clear violation of the law.”⁸ Meanwhile, on the National Mall, protesters erected a 10-foot replica of Trump’s birthday card to Epstein—complete with the outline of a naked woman and the message: “may every day be another wonderful secret.”9 Tomorrow is Epstein’s birthday.
The Call
Every story in today’s news serves the same project. We track them using the fascism syndrome—ten indicators that a democracy is sliding into fascism—so you don’t lose the thread in the daily chaos:
Cult of the leader: Chairman for life. Power to choose his successor. Peace contingent on a prize. Every decision flows through one man’s ego.
Aggression as virtue: “I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace.” Threatening allies over a snub. 1500 troops on standby against Americans who protest.
Weaponized justice: FBI found sufficient grounds to investigate the killer. DOJ killed the probe and ordered prosecutors to target the widow instead. That’s not law—it’s persecution.
Capture of the state: About a dozen prosecutors resigned rather than comply. The Civil Rights Division was excluded from the civil rights investigation. Career officials purged for doing their jobs.
Threaten allies. Replace the UN. Kill citizens. Investigate the grieving. That’s not chaos. That’s not incompetence. That’s consolidation in motion.
But naming the disease is only half the job.

Epstein Cover Up: A Case For American Morality
DOJ in response to a Congressional demand for release of the files has said in essence “We’re not going to and nobody can make us”
The quiet part is now being said out loud Today's Nazi Republican Party has since at least Reagan has been the political equivalent of the "wealthy bro club" and it's implied promise that those without any money are duped into believing that wealth will rub off if they mingle with money
At least that's part of the equation Another is the argument that wealth should not be constrained in a society Rules and regulations be damned And the attract duped followers by the moniker "don't tell me what to do" bravado This is clearly the message Cheeto is sending to his rabid MAGA group of cult followers and to the courts
But the mainstream psychological profile of the average American has not bought into the Nazi koolaid that rules are for suckers and might makes right And protecting the depravity of the wealthy is where even MAGA draws the line
Dollars do not equate to morality and kill the soul of America
