100% agree, we need to fight fire with fire. In this case disinformation with some form of weaponized truth but it needs to be short easy to digest targeted and errode the trust they've misplaced. That ancient aliens show comes to mind, the way they just bombard the viewer with unanswerable questions and sensationalism.

And we need to stop falling for the strategy Trump has repeatedly deployed either out of ignorance or intent I'm not 100% sure. Continuous desensitizing / conditioning of the public.
First he says some wildly inflammatory/dumb/hateful/ridiculous thing, A-D or E)all the above.
Then he does something horrifying that if allowed to play out would be disastrous. Cue politicians, pundits, bloggers exc. to go rabid, the news cycle swings to full time coverage of his latest incendiary.
Then it's reversed before it's effect can be manifested. Now the oposition looks foolish to his base, they can't be bothered with details anyways so all that they see is crazy folks foaming at the mouth over Trump again, chuckle, chuckle “he's owning the libs" ha ha ha, never realizing how close he just walked us to the edge of disaster or how stupid it makes our country look.
