Ezra Klein Is a Fool Whose Arrogance and Smugness Might Cost Us Our Country
Trump is dismantling the government in real-time, and the media’s arrogance is helping him do it.
Ezra Klein and much of the political media are the greatest assets Trump could ever ask for.
Not because they support him, but because their arrogance, naivety, and addiction to intellectual posturing blind them to what’s actually happening.
In his recent episode of The Ezra Klein Show, titled "Don’t Believe Him" (video at the end of this article), Klein argues that Trump’s chaotic executive orders and policy announcements are a façade. He claims Trump is simply projecting power, that the courts and institutions will rein him in, and that if we refuse to buy into the illusion, Trump’s control will collapse under its own weight.
This would be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous.
Klein is wrong—not because Trump is some master strategist, but because he doesn’t need to be. This isn’t a game of chess. This isn’t some complex maneuver where Trump is overplaying his hand and will inevitably fail.
This is brute-force destruction. Trump isn’t governing. He’s burning everything down before anyone has time to fight back.
And Klein, along with the rest of the smug, detached media class, is too busy playing intellectual whack-a-mole with every executive order to see that the entire structure is collapsing right in front of them.
Trump’s Strategy: Burn Everything Down and Decide What to Build Later
Trump is not trying to govern. He is not even trying to win specific policy battles.
He is waging war on the U.S. government itself.
✅ Every agency gutted.
✅ Every career civil servant fired, terrorized, or pushed into quitting.
✅ Every independent institution crippled or defunded.
✅ Every Republican official too afraid to resist.
This is not about enacting a coherent vision for America.
It is about reducing the U.S. government to rubble—because only once it is gone can they figure out what kind of regime they want to build in its place.
Will it be Elon’s Silicon Valley “Technate”, where a handful of billionaires run the economy like a corporate dystopia?
Will it be Paul Weyrich’s Handmaid’s Tale, where Christian fundamentalism replaces democracy?
Will it be some libertarian anarcho-capitalist hellscape, where the ultra-wealthy buy their own private fiefdoms?
Or will it be some chaotic Frankenstein of all of the above—a nightmare where the only consistent theme is that the powerful get what they want and everyone else suffers?
None of that matters yet.
First, they need to destroy the system that exists. The courts, the agencies, the civil service, and any structure that maintains the balance of power—all of it has to go.
And they’re not subtle about it.
Russell Vought, now confirmed as Trump’s White House Budget Director and one of the chief architects of Project 2025, said it outright:
"We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected. When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains. We want their funding to be shut down so that the EPA can't do all of the rules against our energy industry because they have no bandwidth financially to do so. We want to put them in trauma."
Vought is not some fringe figure. Before Klein’s episode aired, Vought had already publicly stated—on video—that his goal was to traumatize federal workers and cripple agencies so they couldn’t function. This wasn’t a leaked memo, a hidden plan, or something waiting to be deciphered by political analysts.
It was in the open.
And yet, in Don’t Believe Him, Klein still treated Trump’s moves as political theater, as if the chaos was unintentional rather than the strategy itself. But the reality was right there: Project 2025—Vought’s blueprint—was already being implemented on day one of Trump’s return to power through a flurry of executive orders. This isn’t an illusion of power.
It’s the plan.
The goal is not to win a battle of ideas.
The goal is not to implement better policies.
The goal is not even to fix whatever they claim is “broken.”
The goal is total destruction.
Because once everything is shattered, there’s no one left to stop them from creating whatever dystopia they want.
That’s why this isn’t just authoritarianism.
It’s a fucking Zerg Rush.
The Zerg Rush: The Right-Wing Strategy for Overwhelming America’s Defenses
Any gamer worth their salt knows what a Zerg Rush is.
You don’t spend time carefully building a strong economy. You don’t wait until your opponent has a solid defense.
You throw everything you have at them, immediately, with relentless speed, before they even know what’s happening.
Trump is doing the same thing:
✅ Executive orders instead of legislation—because the courts take time to respond.
✅ Mass firings and purges—so that by the time judges step in, the damage is done.
✅ Pardoning violent insurrectionists—so his base knows they can terrorize with impunity.
✅ Gutting agencies like USAID and CFPB—so that even if they technically exist, they no longer function.
By the time liberal analysts like Klein finish writing their next “deep dive” into Trump’s legal standing, the government will already be gutted.
And that’s the point.
It’s funny—Elon’s fan club is full of gamers, and they understand this perfectly. They grasp why a relentless, overwhelming attack works better than a slow, methodical buildup. Maybe we need more people who understand these strategies—and fewer arrogant liberals wasting time analyzing a chess match while the board is being flipped in front of them.
The Media’s Cowardice Is Helping Trump Win
The press is falling for it. Every. Single. Time. They chase process stories, treating Trump’s actions like routine political maneuvering.
They won’t call it fascism.
They won’t call it a purge.
They won’t call it a coup.
Instead, they debate whether Trump’s latest executive order is legally sound. They analyze leaks and backstabbing as if this is just another chaotic Republican administration.
No, you fucking morons.
This is the purposeful dismantling of America’s entire governing structure.
Trump and his enablers don’t need a master plan—all they need is for journalists and pundits like Klein to refuse to state the obvious.
They leak bullshit drama to distract reporters while they bulldoze the system.
They rely on the media’s arrogance—its refusal to acknowledge that the destruction is as simple as it looks.
And it’s working.
How We Know This is Working: The Government is Already Bleeding Out
For anyone still clinging to the idea that the courts will save us, take a hard look at what's already happening.
Yes, judges have blocked some of Trump’s extreme executive orders.
Yes, watchdogs are sounding alarms.
Yes, legal challenges are piling up.
And all of it is critically important.
We owe an enormous debt to the lawyers, watchdogs, and public servants fighting these battles every single day. Without them, Trump’s demolition job would be moving even faster. Marc Elias and the legal teams fighting in the courts matter. The judges issuing injunctions matter. Every temporary block on Trump’s executive overreach matters.
But they alone cannot save us.
Because Trump and his enablers aren’t trying to win every case—they’re trying to exhaust and break the system.
Imagine being a career civil servant right now—someone who has spent decades working in Treasury, the FBI, OPM, GSA, or any of the agencies under siege.
🔴 Your department’s funding is frozen.
🔴 Your colleagues are being fired or pushed out for not being ‘loyal’ enough.
🔴 The experts around you—the people who actually know how things work—are quitting in droves.
🔴 One week your office is shut down, the next a court reverses it—but everyone knows another attack is coming.
Every day is chaos.
How long would you stay?
USAID and the CFPB have been in a constant state of imminent destruction, only slowed by the courts, leaving their employees uncertain whether their agencies will even exist in the near future. The same applies to countless other institutions, where civil servants are being pushed out not by direct orders, but by sheer dysfunction and instability.
Seven prosecutors in the Southern District of New York just resigned because they refused to obey a corrupt DOJ order to drop the corruption case against Mayor Eric Adams.
Their courage is commendable. But let’s be clear: this is still a win for Trump.
✅ Seven experienced prosecutors—gone.
✅ The request to drop the case was issued anyway.
✅ Those vacancies will soon be filled by loyalists.
It doesn’t matter whether replacements have been named yet—they will be. And when they are, the DOJ won’t be staffed by career professionals committed to the rule of law. It will be filled with people who will do whatever Trump wants.
So yes, support the court battles. Celebrate every legal victory. Defend the lawyers who are on the front lines of this fight.
But also recognize that this is exactly how they hollow out the system.
This is how they win. Not by outright destroying the government in one move, but by purging anyone who won’t comply.
You don’t have to fire every prosecutor if you can make enough of them resign in disgust.
You don’t have to shut down an agency if you can make it so no competent person wants to work there.
The courts are buying time, but they can’t rebuild what’s already been dismantled.
The government is bleeding out. By the time the media catches up, it may already be too late.

Unifying Against Trump Means No Room for Naïveté
Some might say that now isn’t the time to attack someone like Ezra Klein—that we should be uniting against Trump, not tearing each other down. And they’re right about one thing: we do need to unify.
But unification isn’t just about standing together. It’s about standing behind the right message and the right strategy.
We don’t have time for self-sabotage. We don’t have time for people who mean well but are still, knowingly or not, complicit in the destruction unfolding before them.
We need a message that is mercilessly clear, brutally honest, and laser-focused on stopping Trump. And that means we cannot afford to coddle naïveté.
Klein and others in the political media are not our enemies—but their failures enable our enemies. Their reluctance to accept reality, their obsession with normalizing Trump’s actions, and their constant underestimation of the crisis cripple our ability to fight back effectively.
There is no path forward that involves giving space to foolishness. If the house is on fire, you don’t waste time debating whether it’s "technically" a five-alarm blaze—you grab the hose and start putting it out.
If we are going to stop Trump, we need to be ruthless in culling anything that weakens our movement, whether it’s outright bad actors or the kind of well-intentioned complacency that plays into their hands.
Unifying against Trump means unifying behind a message and a strategy that can actually defeat him. And that starts by rejecting the kind of empty intellectualism that wastes time analyzing the fire instead of putting it out.
The Only Way to Stop This Is to Shatter Trump’s Support
Right now, Republicans in Congress are literally afraid for their lives if they go against Trump.
He pardoned his brownshirts—and now every GOP official knows that if they step out of line, his base will come for them—at least electorally, if not violently.
That means the only way to stop Trump before it’s too late is to turn his base against him.
Rub MAGA’s nose in how they’re getting scammed.
Call Elon Musk “Elon Soros Musk”—force them to reckon with the fact that a foreign billionaire “globalist” has access to their SSNs and tax info.
Show blue-collar Trump voters how he just tried to kill Medicaid for them—and how Democrats saved it in the courts.
Shame the “Constitution-loving” libertarians into opposing Trump.
Why are they letting a foreign billionaire dictate U.S. policy?
Why are they cheering as Trump seizes Congress’ power of the purse?
Exploit the existing fissures in Trump’s coalition.
The H1B visa fight already created a MAGA rift. Make Trump’s base turn on the billionaires screwing them over.
The far-right nationalists hate Musk. Make them hate him more.
Old-school Tea Party types still want spending cuts. Show them how Trump is burning taxpayer money to reward loyalty.
Call out the media’s cowardice.
Stop reporting on Trump’s tactics—report on why he’s doing it.
Demand the press stop analyzing the bullshit leaks and focus on the structural collapse.
These are just some ways we can drive a wedge between MAGA Cult leaders and their followers.
Final Thought: Don’t Believe Him
Ezra Klein thinks we can just disbelieve Trump’s power and he’ll collapse.
This is the kind of naïve, ivory-tower nonsense that has allowed authoritarianism to take root time and time again.
This isn’t about belief. This is about whether anything is left to stop Trump once he consolidates power.
If the federal government is hollowed out, if Congress is neutered, if the courts are too slow, and if Republican officials are too terrified to resist—then Trump won’t need to declare himself a king.
He will simply be one.
And that’s why the first step to stopping him isn’t refusing to believe in Trump’s power.
It’s refusing to believe in Ezra Klein.
Stop listening to fools like him.
Stop waiting for the media to catch up.
Stop assuming someone else will step in to stop this.
Stop debating whether this is "really" fascism when they’ve already told you what they’re doing.
We don’t have time to analyze this to death while they tear the government apart in real-time.
The Nazis took ~60 days to fully consolidate power over Germany’s government.
We’re now 25 days in.
Don’t believe him—not Trump—Klein.
The clock is ticking.
This feels absolutely true to me. I was sent Ezra Klein‘s piece when it first came out by someone wanting to calm me down. Someone who is smart and a critical thinker who I love dearly. Interesting thing, it did calm me down, but it did not feel “right“. Being calm isn’t the answer right now, being active and fighting with everything we can feels not just right but absolutely necessary. But I’m not sure how one gets those messages you bring up to his base. It seems to me his base won and then went to sleep.
This really comes as no surprise. It has become very apparent that Klein is a libertarian. I’m not alone in observing this. https://www.cato.org/blog/ezra-kleins-conversion-libertarianism-proceeds-apace
