DOGE v. The Constitution
🔴 UPDATE: March 19, 2025
Trump Administration Used False Gang Allegations to Deport Innocent Venezuelan Refugee to El Salvador Mega-Prison
The Trump administration has escalated its war on constitutional rights, using fabricated evidence to justify the mass deportation of immigrants to El Salvador’s CECOT mega-prison. A sworn court filing reveals that Jerce Reyes Barrios, a Venezuelan soccer player with no criminal record, was falsely labeled a gang member by DHS based on a tattoo and a hand gesture. Despite overwhelming proof of his innocence, he was secretly transferred, deported, and is now lost inside one of the most notorious prisons in the world.
Key Developments:
Reyes Barrios fled political persecution in Venezuela and sought asylum in the U.S. in September 2024. He had a pending hearing for his asylum claim when DHS suddenly detained and transferred him.
DHS falsely accused him of gang affiliation based on a Real Madrid-inspired soccer tattoo and a common hand sign that actually means "I love you" in sign language.
His attorney provided Venezuelan police clearance showing no criminal history, employment records, and testimony from his tattoo artist. None of it stopped DHS from secretly moving him from California to Texas, then deporting him to El Salvador.
Counsel and family have lost all contact with him. His whereabouts and condition are unknown.
The Real Story: Who Wins and Who Pays the Price?
The Trump regime and its oligarch backers win by using mass deportations as political theater, dehumanizing immigrants to justify a fascist crackdown. This isn’t about security—it’s about normalizing government overreach and testing how far they can go. If they can fabricate gang ties to exile people like Reyes Barrios, what’s stopping them from expanding these tactics to American citizens?
Meanwhile, innocent people lose. Reyes Barrios wasn’t a gang member. He was a soccer player with no criminal record, seeking safety in the U.S. Instead of justice, he got disappeared. His story is proof that Trump’s deportation machine is a blunt weapon designed to destroy lives, not enforce the law.
🔍 Why This Matters:
This is how authoritarian regimes operate. The state invents crimes, overrides due process, and disappears people with no accountability. Trump’s DHS didn’t need proof—they needed a body to fill a prison cell in El Salvador, and Reyes Barrios was convenient.
If this isn’t stopped, it won’t just be immigrants who get targeted next.
🚨 The Bottom Line:
The Trump administration isn’t enforcing immigration law—it’s weaponizing it. They lied to justify an illegal deportation, and now an innocent man is trapped in a foreign prison with no way out.
This is what a lawless government looks like. The Constitution was supposed to prevent this. Now the question is: does it still mean anything?

"If this isn’t stopped, it won’t just be immigrants who get targeted next." Can you please reread that sentence and take a moment to think about why it's a problem.
'Just immigrants'. Instead of what? Real people? Actual Americans? Why are they 'just'? Are they lesser humans? Do they not have rights? Yes, they do. And the USA used to be a place where those rights were protected and defended. Obviously, it is no longer that place. It's a much uglier, much more dangerous place. Arriving there was helped along by igoring language that allowed people from different places to be categorized as less than human. Words matter. I hope you'll think about that. Otherwise, thank you for your work.
